About us
Ok, we are going to start a New Section called: 25 Week Practice Planner.  This section will have 25 weeks of half Ice and full ice practice plans.  This should take you from the start to the end of a regular season.  The plans are designed with our fundamental hockey progression and a tactical progression programs.  You will be able to use all or part of these plans for your team.  Here is a sample of what the Coaching Planner page would look like:

Just click on the week 17 or 18 in the month of January to see what each practice plan will look like.  Then, the only thing you need to do is just print out the plan and take it with you to the rink.  We are hoping that this will be a valuable tool for you and that you will tell you coaching friends to sign up and use our service.

This section is going to take about a month to complete.  We will be posting the Half Ice section of the coaching planner starting some time this weekend.  Once the section is complete, we will link it up on the main page for you to use.  In the mean time, you can check out the posting progress by viewing the link about.

Coaching Tips
One of our members asked us how do you keep their team motivated if they're not on a winning season.  When I'm not on a winning season, I talk to the players about the following things.

Skill level of each player: Find the good in each player.
Heart: Love of the game. Why do you play?
Motivation: Self motivation. Find it within, to go the extra mile.
Drive: Water at rest is just a pond. Water in motion is powerful, it will destroy everything.
Attitude: We are born with two things, the fear of falling and the fear of noise. Everything else we learn by hearing, Seeing, tasting, touching, smelling and parents.

From these senses, we make up our believes, which gives us our attitude, which in turn, tells us how to behave. We go through life holding these believes, behaviors and attitude up in front of us like a "Doily" image that we see life through.

If we hold this doily up in front of us all the time, which we do, we start to see life through this "Doily" on what we "think" life should be. Sooner or later it looks all the same.

However, if we turn or shift the "Doily" one degree clockwise, the image that we see life through....changes. Thus, we are able to change our attitude on life or others as well.

The thing is, we always want the other person to change, but in reality the only thing we can change is ourselves. By having an "attitude shift", this will give us the opportunity to change. Once the shift is made, things, friends, family look different.

Take the "Greener Pasture" theory.  It goes something like this....

Your in your backyard, sun bathing in your lounge chair.  You look around and you've noticed that the grass in your backyard has burnt spots and it's turned yellow in certain areas.  In fact, the sprinkler system doesn't work any more and the trees and some plants look brown.

So you look over the fence at the neighbor yard and its perfect.  Beautiful green grass and plants with nice flowers.  So you look back at your yard and it's a hell hole.  The first thing you say is....well, it's because of this and because of that.

Two weeks later you see that the neighbor's house is up for sale, so you buy it and move in and leave all those troubles behind.  Yes, finally the backyard that you deserve!  You ever look over the fence to see what you left behind and laugh at the poor sap who's just bought your old house.

Two months later, you are relaxing in the lounge chair and you have noticed that the grass is got some brown spots and one tree has lost all of it's leafs.  But, you still remember the crappy yard you left two month's ago and how bad you had it back then.

So you look over the fence to see and remember just how bad you had it and when you look over, the grass is beautiful, dark and green.  Oh look, the guy even put in a putting green in the backyard with a flag. So you look back at your yard and it's the same old crapy yard you use to have.

So even though you changed your surroundings, you still took the same attitudes, believes and behaviors with you.  You still took the same mental baggage with you and nothing changed except the house, which is now falling down around you.
